Elders are accountable for the overall spiritual health and effectiveness of the church. Ultimately, Jesus is the head of the church, so the Elders’ role is to seek His direction in overseeing, guiding and caring for the church.
The qualifications for eldership are laid out in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. This church takes seriously the New Testament commands for elders to be biblically qualified and to actively pastor the flock of God. They are to provide strong leadership, loving pastoral care and discipline, sound Bible teaching, and humble, sacrificial examples of Christian living.
The Jennings Church of Christ Elders have served in this community long enough for these character qualities to be observed and confirmed by many, and we have a very thorough process for elder selection. With much prayer and careful consideration, the following men have agreed to serve as Elders:
William “Bill” Keiser, Cleve Simon, Gregg Trahan, Keith Keiser
The qualifications for Deacon are also laid out in 1 Timothy 3 as well as Acts 6. Deacons were created as servants for the purpose of handling the business aspects of the congregation so the Elders could concentrate on spiritual needs without distraction.
Deacons are to be capable of serving the Lord in spiritual ways, have a firm grasp of sound doctrine, and advance the unity of the church through their service to others. The men currently serving this church as Deacons are:
Roger Jones, Darryl Broyles
